Thank You!
Hello Dear Meadiacs,
You all are absolutely amazing. The amount of kindness, understanding, and patience we’ve received from all of you over the last years has been nothing short of staggering. So we wanted to take a moment to simply say: Thank You.
We also want to announce that we’ve made the decision to close our online store. We’re going to do one more sale, but we wanted to let you know why we made this choice, and to get you resources so you can make your own mead!
Quite simply, there were two things that helped us make this decision. First, we realized that our small farm could never produce ingredients at a scale that our meadery could justify purchasing, which was disconcerting to realize. Second, we love sharing our mead with the world, but the fact that 96% of it was mediated by fossil-fuel intensive transportation didn’t sit well with us.
So, we made the decision to scale down dramatically so that we could use ingredients from the small farms that are the life-blood of our rural communities and to sell locally to reduce our climate footprint. It’s great that our production is carbon-neutral, but it’s definitely negated when we ship a case of mead 2,982 miles.
With all of that said…
We have been saving a bunch of really special bottles for an occasion just like this, and they are now officially available!
Come visit us! We should have our new farmstead Mead Hall open for special events by next Summer!
We’re still distributing in Vermont and our neighboring states!
If you’re a small farmer, please reach out!
Remember, all of our recipes are open source, so you can brew them at home (or ask your friend to do it for you)!
Thank you all so much. You are, as we said, absolutely amazing.
Love,
Ricky and Kelly
